If you live in Southeast Texas you know love bugs. You’ve seen em.  You’ve cursed em. You have scrubbed (or tried to) them off of your vehicle. You drive fast, slow or in between. Doesn’t make any difference. But strangely enough they have not been a big deal the last few years. I can remember driving to Silsbee or Kountze or Orange or Lufkin. There they were, plastered all over the windshield, bumpers and part of the car you cannot get to. What has happened? My theory, and it’s only theory is that every last one, save for a few in hiding were wiped out in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike. That was almost nine years ago. If that is true, it’s the only thing good ever to come from Ike. It’s hard to argue that they are as bad as they once were. So could the species become extinct? Kind of like the Dodo bird? Good question. I better call an entomologist.
