What price, glory? What price, victory? I ask myself this often but especially on Memorial Day weekend. Sure, I like the day off and sleeping late but I can’t help but think of those who also sleep, but forever, many before they were old enough to buy a beer. Memorial Day is set aside for honoring those who died so we may live. It’s more than grilling out, sleeping late or buying a mattress. It’s a day to give a few seconds to those who didn’t make it back. They too would have enjoyed a day off. They would have loved to eat a hot dog or two and watch the Indy 500. But they must remain the same age forever, resting in graves all over the universe. Men and women alike, who shared the belief that love of country was most important. Silence. Silence if just for a moment to honor their memory.
