What a breath of fresh air to kick off SB 53. Gladys Knight, certainly one of the all time great blues singers, hit it out of the park with her version of the national anthem. No adlibs, just sang it like the agency wrote it. We always use that phrase whenever possible. In radio talk, that means no outrageous renditions that make it more of a Vegas show opener than the Star Spangled Banner. It’s a tough song to sing. It’s a song that salutes our nation, for those of us who still feel that way. No kneeling, no fist hoists, just a piece of Americana the way some of still like it. Wow. Had our cake and ate it too. (Great game, also). The NCAA should take note. All the commercials, the pomp and circumstance and still done by 9pm. Try that on any Tech or State game.
