Al's Morning Blog - Tuesday May 21st, 2019

I tell this every year on Memorial day. I still enjoy reminding myself of it. the picture that hangs just above from where I am typing this on computer is that of my brother Doug. 13 years older than ne and joined the Army on December 8th, 1941. Thirty years through Army Air Force, and then Air Force. He was my second dad because of our age difference. He took me everywhere on leave and his last visit was when I was in California. I saw him last at age 71. He had slowed down quite a bit. He was still Doug. He loved baseball, beer, his wife and the Force. He didn’t want to leave. He climbed the hills in Italy at a beach named Anzio and ended up in North Africa. He flew during Korea and flew body bags while in Viet Nam. He wasn’t a pilot but he was the guy who did all the dirty work and he loved it.

He loved Memorial day and flew his flag. He idolized my dad who was in World War 1. I idolized both of these guys. Happy Memorial day. You are remembered.
