Commercial or Sermon? Let's dissect that. A sermon is usually 25 to 35 minutes long with no commercial interruption though some might look at it as a commercial. It's usually tactful, truthful and hits most of us where it hurts. That's the point of it as is the case with any commercial. It's not a blur, is pretty succinct and covers the entire populous. No age demos here, it all fits under the big umbrella. Some might consider it boring as you cannot get up, go to the fridge and get a beer or a soft drink or a sandwich or a dish of ice cream. You are a captive audience and as such must at least act as if the message is compelling, (which it most always is. Point taken. Now let's look at the other one. The commercial. Usually, video and in full color. It lasts 30 seconds and features, beautiful women, gnarly guys and sometimes, cute kids. (Sometimes, bratty kids.) Unlike the sermon it doesn't always tell the truth, but it goes by so quickly you do not notice. It shows flash and pzazz, which we all like and when it's over, either wanting to eat or drive a fast car. While I don't want 24/7 sermons on my television set, it is a pleasant diversion. Yea, sermon. Oh, do not fall asleep. The guy next to me did and his snoring brought down the house.
