I do not bet on the Super Game except with those little squares. I don't do Vegas. Last time I was there I was ridiculed for asking where the nickel slots were. (FYI at the Golden Nugget with the previously advertised 50 cent draft beer and the 99 cent shrimp cocktails.) Guess that shows how long since I have been. I would bet on the Chinese. I would bet that if we had floated a weather balloon over Beijing it would have been nuked, juked or puked within 30 seconds of discovery. Please stop with the tirades against the United States. We are not very attractive. With the exception of the UK and maybe Australia and a caveat toward New Zealand, everyone hates, and I mean HATES us. Germany is not happy they lost the war no matter what anyone thinks. Grandchildren of Japan still remember the A- bomb attacks. If you do not believe there is angst among anyone who has ever looked cross-eyed at us, then let me sell you a section of the Brooklyn bridge. China is doing what China does best. Sneak attacks. Asians that have come here or have been born here have a different story. Regardless , print media as a whole and a great portion of the electronic media also look at us as evil. We are one of the most liberal countries on earth, if not the most liberal. Laws here protect the innocent to a degree, but as of late, the perp has the upper hand but more on that some other time. China would protest and protest loudly. What they would do is still hard to determine but most of us know Tiananmen square is not a myth.
Most scholars know the cruelty imposed on American POW's by both Japan and Germany was real. Mao Tse Tung was no choir boy and when the Chinese law down the law, they are not kidding. No, I am not ready to bet on a football game or boxing match but when it comes to a threat of war games, I certainly respect the enemy. Conclusion? We did the right thing in shooting down the big balloon, whether it is friend or foe. A little late if you know your geography of the US but still it was proper. So Confucious say, keep your friends close, but keep your ( you know the rest of that one.) FYI. I think Confucious knew what he was talking about.
