I'm not penny wise and pound foolish ( look that one up) but I employ a little thrift now and then. Over the weekend I changed dog food because my Aussie is now a year old and thinks he has earned the privilege of being a lot more choosey about his food. My wife agrees saying he is worth it. So be it. I have been feeding the pricy Science diet to him but he turned up his nose at the delicate chicken/barley, so I switched him to chicken/brown rich which he loves. 60 bucks a bag. Man!! Is he eating good in the neighborhood or what? His food cost is now on par with what I spend for my wife and I, or at least close. Where is Alpo when you need it? Comparison time. When my first child arrived, nothing was too good. Stroller, baby toys, food, special powder etc. Child number two? Forget it. Buy on the cheap. Well, it's just the opposite with the animals. There was a time when I bought Kalkan, Skippy and the like and the dog was happy just to be fed. Apparently, some of our self-pampering has rubbed off on our four-legged friends. Next thing you know, they' want their own bedroom and a two week vacation.
